newfound appreciation for clay

it has finally happened. i have successfully learned how to throw clay on a wheel without injuring myself or others! above is a 5-week result of introduction to the wheel class i took at the clay studio. for someone who is so used to very precise processes, i find throwing pots extremely challenging, yet oh so gratifying...i now have 2+ more coffee mugs and am working on making bigger soup bowls to replace a pair i got 10 years ago (that actually might be dog bowls now that i think about it)..

cape cod

last week, brendan and i decided to drive up to providence, boston and cape cod to visit family and have much needed r&r. we stayed in harwich and fortunately, because it was the off-season, the cape was incredibly quiet. luckily, we did what we do best - checked out the local antique shops, ate our faces off and chilled by a fireplace every night.

we stopped by the peabody essex museum and saw the yin yu tang house and a maritime exhibition with the most mind blowing ship models, reverse glass paintings, vintage ship advertisements and scrimshaw. meanwhile, the ica boston was in between shows and saw only works by gabriel kuri, missing the mark bradford exhibit.

back to reality! i'm now working on finishing my collage in studio before i turn 30 on april fool's day... :-(
